چکیده
Bitter melon is a fruit that was famous for its bitter taste and contains chemical compounds are proven to have effects such as antidiabetic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, antioxidant. One of the prerequisites plant be developed into drug by testing subchronic toxicity. This study goal determine presence toxic not detected in acute toxicity test. A total 40 wistar rats were divided group control 3 treatment groups. Each consisted 5 male female rats. Group 1 (control) only given food (pellets) drinking water. 2, 4 groups ethanol extract pulp (Momordica charantia L.) with multilevels doses 250 mg/kgbw, 500 1000 mg/kgbw. The observations made 28 days included number death animals, relative organ weight (ROW), ureum, creatinine levels histopatological changes kidney. There no deaths entire group, decreasing ureum (p=0,022), (p=0,033) group. While decrease significantly (0.878) (0.845). significant ROW (p=0,370 p=0,394), but there microscopic structure. In conclusion at mg/kgbw does showed any on kidney function weight. But microscopically, administration caused effect tubules both groups.

Effects of Momordica charantia (Bitter Melon) on Ischemic Diabetic Myocardium.
Objective: A rat model is here used to test a hypothesis that Momordica charantia (Bitter melon (BM)) extract favorably alters processes in cardiovascular tissue and is systemically relevant to the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and related cardiovascular disease. Methods: Male Lean and Zucker Obese (ZO) rats were gavage-treated for six weeks with 400 mg/kg body weight bitter melon (...
متن کاملIn vivo antitumor activity of the bitter melon (Momordica charantia).
The in vivo antitumor activity of a crude extract from the bitter melon (Momordica charantia) was determined. The extract inhibited tumor formation in CBA/H mice which had been given i.p. injections of 1.0 X 10(5) CBA/Dl tumor cells (77% of the untreated mice with tumors versus 33% of the treated mice with tumors after 6 weeks). The extract also inhibited tumor formation in DBA/2 mice which had...
متن کاملBio-active compounds of bitter melon genotypes (Momordica charantia L.) in relation to their physiological functions
Background: Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia L) is one of the most popular cooked vegetables in many Asian countries. Its experimental use in mice has indicated improvement in glucose tolerance against Type II diabetes and reduction in blood cholesterol. However, it has not been proven which alkaloids, polypeptides, or their combinations in the Bitter Melon extract are responsible for the medi...
متن کاملInfluence of Total Anthocyanins from Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia Linn.) as Antidiabetic and Radical Scavenging Agents
The majority of the antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of fruits are anthocyanins, a group of polyphenolics that are responsible for the color of many fruits, vegetables and flowers. The harvesting time, storage conditions, maturity, extraction steps etc. are very important for the biological activities based on the alteration of chemical composition. The free radical scavenging and antidi...
